Revlon Straightening Hair Dryer Review (One-Step Paddle Dryer)

I was in the market for a new hair dryer. My hair is thick and naturally curly, and takes forever to blow dry. I had seen reviews for the Revlon One-Step Volumizer hair dryer, and I was intrigued. But THEN I saw the Revlon One Step Paddle dryer, and I was REALLY intrigued. I purchased it a few months ago, and have been trying it out. Since there aren’t many reviews out there on it, I figured I’d share mine!

For a little reference: my hair is VERY thick. It’s naturally curly. I use a Chi straightener. I wash my hair about once a week to every two weeks. I prefer to wash it at night.

I always put my hair in a hair wrap as soon as I get out of the shower with wet hair (my favorite is the Aquis hair turban). It helps soak up some of the moisture, which makes the drying process quicker for me.

Sectioning my hair is so important when drying or styling it. I have SO MUCH hair. If I don’t section it, I definitely miss large chunks.

I’ve found the best way to use this dryer is as show below. The paddle side goes out, and I use it vertically. This seems to be the most effective way to get everything straight. The most heat comes out of the top, so this way the hair gets constant heat all the way down.

This is my hair before drying it:

It’s a crazy mess. But once I use this dryer, it’s pretty straight.

I think it does a pretty good job. My hair ends up straight and smooth. It cuts my drying and styling time down. It still takes 30 minutes with this, but with a normal dryer and straightener it takes 45 minutes to an hour. I’m pretty pleased with the results.

I prefer to use this at night. I usually wash and dry my hair at night, then straighten it the next morning. Those give me the best of the best results. HOWEVER, sometimes things just don’t work like that. If I’m just going to work, I can definitely just use the dryer in the morning. If I have something I want to look a little nicer for, I use the dryer at night, or run a straightener over it after.

Sometimes my hair can still have a few damp spots. It’s really hard to get my entire head dry. But overall, I really like this dryer.

I haven’t tried the volumizer dryer. I just don’t think it would work well with my hair type. I think if you have thinner, naturally straight hair, it may be a nice tool for you. For me, I think it would just be too much.

Let me know in the comments if you have any questions. I’d be happy to let you know if I think this would work for you!
