All About Single Shadows

Single shadows are some of my favorite eyeshadows. I love having the ability to customize a palette, and build a collection customized to my own style. It’s a great way to try out a brand without spending a ton of money, or add just one color to your collection that you’ve been wanting to try.

I’ll list some of my favorite companies that carry single shadows at the bottom of this post, as well as some companies I want to try. I’ve tried a few single shadows from some companies, and bundles of single shadows from others. Some are better quality than others, just like palettes.

As I said, I love being able to customize my own palettes. Magnetic palettes are available in all different sizes, and they’re perfect for single shadows. I will also link some of my favorite magnetic palette options at the bottom of this post.

Traveling with eyeshadows used to be a pretty big struggle for me. It was such a hard decision trying to figure out what palette(s) I wanted to take with me. My friend Nicole of What Nicole Wore asked me for advice on deciding what makeup to travel with. I answered her with single shadows. You can take a small palette, or a large palette, of hand selected shades, with you. You don’t have to take a palette just for one or two shades, or several palettes just to have options. I love having all my favorite shades in a convenient palette that’s easy to pack, without having to decide what colors I’ll think I need.

I’ve customized a large magnetic palette with all my favorite shades. I have a pretty hefty collection of cool toned shades, because they’re my favorite. I also have warm toned shades, and bright shades that I love. I’m ready for basically any look, and I just need one palette. I love that it’s MY perfect palette. And finding colors for YOUR perfect palette is so easy!

FYI, right now is a GREAT time to look into single shadows. Colourpop has their BYOP (build your own palette) sale going on. You can get single shadows for up to half off with a free palette! I highly recommend checking this sale out!

I like single shadows too because I find palettes to be overwhelming. I have a couple of small customizable palettes from Buxom I really like!
