Amazon Prime Wardrobe Review

If you haven’t heard, Amazon just started a Prime Wardrobe service. As someone who frequently shops on Amazon, especially in the clothing section, this is very exciting! I placed my first order, and I’m sharing my experience with you guys, along with the pieces I tried! I think this is such a great idea. If you have an event coming up and want to try a few options but don’t have time to get to a store, this is a great way to shop! Just make sure to leave about a week for your items to arrive. You can even order different sizes in items, if you love an item but are questioning what size to get.

I wanted to include some styles for Summer in my order. Kentucky weather has been pretty consistently warm, which means shorter sleeves and some shorter dresses. It also means open toe shoes are in style, and my feet are so pumped (pun intended).
You can order 3-8 items (a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8). I started with 5 dresses that I thought were cute and would be great summer and transition options. Then I added 3 pairs of shoes (1 pair of open toed pumps and 2 pairs of strappy sandals), all in black, because hello, my closet. All the dresses I ordered are an XL, and all the shoes are a size 9.
The first dress I tried was a pretty blue and black knee length dress. Price if kept: $42. It’s a fit and flare dress, and I was really excited to try it. I chose the jade/black option, and it’s the only item of color in my order (again, my closet preferences clearly lean toward black).
Next, I chose a black and white knee length dress.  Again, fit and flare. Price if kept: $49. I thought the pattern was really pretty, and something different from anything I own, and I like the black and white combo. This would be really fun with some red shoes and jewelry, or some pink or yellow for the warmer months.

Sticking with the black and white theme, I picked a black and white chevron maxi dress. Price if kept: $38. I’m a sucker for maxi dresses. I think they’re so pretty and feminine and fun, and they’re great for covering everything. I love wearing maxis with a light cardigan and a fun pair of strappy sandals.
Apparently I have a “type” when it comes to clothing. The other maxi dress I ordered is a solid black maxi with a chevron top. Price if kept: $31.79 This one looked really comfortable, and I loved the chevron detailing at the top. It’s something different than just my usual solid black.
Speaking of my usual solid black… I HAD to pick one solid black dress, of course. The last dress I tried was a cute little knee length cold shoulder dress with a keyhole opening in the front. Price if kept: $34.99. It’s a classic little black dress but I think the cold shoulder and keyhole details make it really fun and different.
Now, the shoes. The first pair I chose was a strappy black sandal with jewels. Price if kept: $29.99. I think they’re really pretty, and I love that they’re not just a basic black sandal. They’re perfect for summer wardrobes.
The next pair I chose is a pair of yoga flip flops. Price if kept: $23.97. I’ve seen a couple of people wear these to yoga classes, and they’ve always intrigued me. The sole is actually made of yoga mat material. They look really comfy. They’re machine washable, which is really nice.
Last but not least, I found a pretty pair of open toed dress sandals. Price if kept: $39.99. The description says the heel measures about 3.5″. I generally prefer these types of heels to classic pumps. The heel is a little sturdier and I like the slingback style, because it gives me a little more wiggle room and tends to be more comfortable for me. I love the open toe option of these for Summer. These are great for showing off those fresh Summer pedicures!
The pros:
You can shop without having to leave your house.
The service is free! It only charges you for the items you don’t return.
Free returns. This is an option with most Prime items, but this service includes free returns for everything in your order. It comes with a prepaid label and a bag for you to place your returns in. Just drop your order off at your nearest UPS store!
You get to try on items you can order before making a final decision.
If you keep $200 of the items, you receive $20 off your purchase.
The cons:
If you forget to complete your order, you will be charged for all the items you “rented”.
Not all items are eligible for this service. Amazon has a specific “Wardrobe” tab, and only certain items, colors, and sizes are available to order.
This service is currently only available for customers with Prime memberships, and I think that will stay permanent.
Unlike Prime, these items can take longer than 2 days to arrive. This is in order to receive your items in as few packages as possible.
