Business Casual Outfit // Blazer + Tank

COVID has hit hard. I know a lot of people aren’t back to work yet, but some of us haven’t stopped going to work. It’s also made a lot of people rethink the companies they’ve been working for. I wanted to share an outfit that’s great for business casual wear, but also perfect for interviews.

There are four things I think every woman in a professional setting should have in their wardrobe: a blazer, a good pair of flats, a nice pair of dress pants, and a quality bag. I’ve found items in these categories that I love, so I wanted to share.

I picked up the blazer I’m wearing during the Nordstrom sale a few years ago. This sale is a great time to pick up blazers. They usually have a couple of options, and the sale is coming up soon (I’ll link them when the sale is going on). Finding it during the sale means it’s not available anymore, but this one is very similar (and affordable). I haven’t tried it, but from the looks of it, it’s almost identical.

Personally, I prefer a pointed toe flat for work or interviews. Having wide feet makes it hard to find a good pair that’s comfortable, but these are amazing. They come in wide sizes too, which I definitely appreciate. Some flats can take a while to break in, but I didn’t have that problem with this pair.

Dress pants can be hard to find. These are my favorites. They feel like leggings, but are very sturdy. They’re very thick and opaque, but not too hot.

Solid shirts are a great option to wear under blazers in a professional setting. I personally prefer something with a pop of color. Button down shirts can be really nice (especially for interviews), but a basic tee can work too. I love that this tee is actually a tank, because it works well for warmer days.

Sunglasses obviously aren’t necessary for work, but they can be great for work trips. My company doesn’t do many business trips (at least for my department), but if the opportunity arises, a quality pair of sunglasses is great. These feel a little more professional than just a basic pair.

I’ve talked about this bag in several previous posts. I love the size for work – it holds a ton, the quality is amazing, it looks high end, and it’s even large enough to hold my 15″ laptop. I take it with me to coffee shops to work on blogging things on a regular basis. It’s important to carry extra resumes to job interviews, and this bag is a great size for that.
