My Laser Hair Removal Experience at Luxe Lounge MedSpa

Luxe Lounge MedSpa officially opened in July, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed going and creating a partnership with them. I’ve had a couple of facials, a lash lift and tint, a brow tint, and, most recently, I’ve started laser hair removal treatments. I wanted to share my experience for anyone curious about the process of laser hair removal. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and I’m so excited to see the final results.

Kentucky Girl Ramblings is occasionally gifted items to try and/or compensated in exchange for a post. Any collaborative post will be disclosed as a “collaboration” or “partnership”, or a “sponsored post.” Regardless of receiving a gifted item and/or compensation, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. I will only feature products I truly love and choose to endorse.

We’ve been talking about starting this treatment for a couple of months, but Fall is the optimal time to start. Limiting sun exposure after the treatments is key to healing, so cooler temperatures are the prime time to start. The process takes 4-6 treatments, spread 4-6 weeks apart, so there needs to be plenty of time for limited sun exposure, making Fall the perfect treatment time.

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a permanent procedure that destroys hair follicles to stop growth. It uses light to target the pigments in hairs to damage the hair follicles. Hair goes through growth cycles, so it’s important to target the growth throughout the cycle. Some hair may regrow in time. If the hair follicles are only damaged, and not completely eliminated, the hair can grow back. Usually when this happens, it grows back in more sparsely and often lighter than before. It can be treated again when regrowth occurs.

I opted for hair removal in my underarms and on my lower legs (we also did my feet). This is where I have the most trouble, and struggle the most with hair growth. I am very fair, and those areas grow dark hair, so they’re also the easiest to target. Light skin with dark hair is ideal for laser hair removal, because it’s easiest for the laser to target. People with darker skin or lighter hair may need more treatments to remove the hair completely.

What Makes the Treatment at Luxe Lounge MedSpa Special?

Luxe Lounge uses the Lumenis Lightsheer Diode Laser System. It helps limit pain and irritation. This system can be customized to different skin types, hair color, and lifestyles. It doesn’t use gels like other laser hair removal systems. A vacuum system is used to help with pain, using suction to help remove the hair.

The Diode System allows larger areas to be covered than other laser systems, which makes the process less painful. The laser pulses are split, which helps prevent hyperpigmentation after the treatment. Diode lasers target pigment more than a regular IPL laser, and are more successful at removing hair.

How Painful Is Laser Hair Removal?

Honestly, it wasn’t that bad. The thinner the skin, the more it hurts. My underarms felt like a little sting, but they weren’t bad. The front of my legs weren’t very painful. My feet barely felt anything. The worst part of it was the backs of my legs. We did turn up the intensity on the backs to help get a better reaction, and I could definitely tell a difference. But it still wasn’t terrible.

I’ve only done one treatment so far, but I will try to keep this post updated. I’m so excited for the final treatment to be over, and to be able to stop shaving. Summers will be much easier and more enjoyable. If you have any questions for me, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer as best as I can!
