My Workday Morning Routine

Morning routines are something it seems many ladies my age are concerned with. We want to know how people get clear skin and how they fix their hair and how people spend their mornings.

Here is my full workday morning routine! I’m usually running around like a chicken with its head cut off while I’m trying to get ready for work. As much as I would love getting up early and having plenty of time to get ready, I love sleep.

I wake up, and turn off my alarm… and repeat this several times (I am NOT a morning person, and have a minimum of 5 alarms set daily). When I finally decide to leave my bed, I usually head straight to the bathroom.img_4693

I take a shower, and dry off. I put my robe or bath wrap on, depending on the temperature of my apartment.

I floss, brush my teeth, and rinse with mouthwash. I use a face wipe to cleanse my face (I generally wash my face with a cleanser at night, and use a makeup removing wipe in the mornings to remove any remaining makeup or sweat left on my face from the night). When my face is clean, I apply moisturizer. I’ve been loving Cetaphil moisturizer. I have very dry, sensitive skin, and this product has been great! Next I use a roll-on eye depuffer from Kroger to decrease the puffiness in my eyes.

Depending how much time I have, usually I do my hair next. This is a step I can’t skip (I can’t go to work with my hair being a disaster), and doing it right after washing my face gives my moisturizer time to sink in before applying my makeup. Sometimes I’ll straighten or curl it, but if I’m running late, I usually throw it into a quick braid or bun (check out my 5 Quick and Easy Hairstyles For When You’re Running Late if you need some easy hair ideas).

makeup-doneAfter hair comes makeup or getting dressed. If I have a little extra time, I’ll spend a little more time on this step. Lately, I’ve been just doing a quick ten minute makeup look (see my No Makeup Makeup post to see my makeup routine for quick days) to even out my skin tone and get me out the door, but sometimes I’ll put a little more effort in. I like to pick out my outfits and get dressed before doing my makeup, so I don’t get any on me while I’m getting dressed. I also like seeing an outfit on me, and deciding whether it looks good and if I feel comfortable in it before putting on my makeup. This way, if I want or need to change, I can do it quickly without having to scramble last minute to find something to wear. I can always rush my makeup more easily than I can rush finding a different outfit.

This completes my morning routine! Let me know in the comments if you have any tips for getting ready in the morning, or if you have any questions for me!
