Pickle Beer Rankings

Happy National Pickle Day! November 14 is National Pickle Day, and my little pickle loving heart couldn’t be happier. One pickly think I’ve found that I love is pickle beer. Pickle beer isn’t everyone’s taste. Some people love pickles, some people hate them, and some people are in between. I’m a self-proclaimed pickle queen (check out this post to see the Pickle Festival I attended last year), and absolutely adore pickles. I’ve tried several pickle beers, and will taste every one I can find. I wanted to do a little ongoing ranking that I can update with all the pickle beers I try, so here are my pickle beer rankings!

Disclaimer: I have enjoyed all the pickle beers I have tried. The number on this list does NOT mean I did not like it! These are my own personal opinions.

1. Line Creek Brewing The Real Dill

Peachtree City, GA

I tried my first pickle beer in June of 2022 in Peachtree City, Georgia. I’d heard about their pickle beer and knew I wanted to try it, so when I went down for a little vacation, Line Creek Brewing was high on my list. When I went back in May 2023, I went back to the brewery, and The Real Dill was just as good the second time around. It holds the number 1 spot for me – the taste is great, and maybe the nostalgia helps its ranking for me, but I love this beer.

2. Rock House Brewing

Lexington, KY

I attended Rock House Brewing’s 2023 Pickle Run – a charity “run” consisting of .25 miles, ending in a trip to their bar for pickle beer. The first time I tried to go, the pickle beer was out, so I was very excited to try it – and I was not disappointed. And it was worth the wait. The beer was smooth and delicious.

3. Key Brewing Co Summa Brine

Baltimore, MD

The Big Dill Pickle Festival was on my radar as soon as I saw a Facebook post for it, and bought tickets as soon as they dropped. It was my 33rd birthday weekend in 2022, in Maryland, and was an absolute blast (check out my full blog post about the event here). They had a few pickle drinks, and the beer from ___ kept me coming back. It was so delicious and refreshing on a hot day outside, and I had a few both days.

4. Urban Artifact Pickle

Cincinnati, OH

Urban Artifact releases a beer called Xmas Pickle every holiday season, which I learned about in 2022, and I finally got my hands on it in December. It was so good. They finally made it permanent in March of 2023, so I headed up to their taproom in Cincinnati as soon as I could. I love that it’s available all the time now, making it easily accessible (I will happily head up to Cincy to pick some up). Plus, I love the new packaging – pickles and bears, which is made for me.

5. Blue Stallion Pickle Vick

Lexington, KY

Blue Stallion occasionally drops their Picke Vick beer, so I obviously had to try it when I attended a Friendsgiving at the brewery in 2023. It was good, and I’d definitely drink it again, it just wasn’t as pickle-y as the beers higher up on this list.

6. Rock House spicy

Lexington, KY

During the Pickle Run I talked about with beer #2, there was a spicy option along with the regular option. Of course I had to try both. It was good, but I preferred the regular version better. It had a little bit of a kick, but the spice wasn’t overpowering, so I still liked it.

7. Urban Artifact Spicy Pickle

Cincinnati, OH

Like Rock House, Urban Artifact also has a spicy pickle beer. Unlike Rock House, the kick in this one is a little too overpowering for me. I like spicy things, but I like a mild-medium heat. The heat in this one is just a little too much for my own personal taste, but for someone looking for a little heat, this one may be higher up.

That’s it for now, but I definitely plan on keeping this list updated. If I see a pickle beer, I’m definitely going to try it. When I do, on the list it’ll go! If anyone has any recommendations for me (and ideas of where I can get it in the Lexington, KY area), please leave me a comment on this post or send me a DM on my Instagram (and follow me there for more pickle adventures)! If you are a brand who would like me to sample your pickle beer and add it to my rankings, please send me an email at Kentuckygirlramblings@gmail.com, or send me a DM on Instagram!
