I took an adventure out to Eckert’s Orchard in Versailles last year to pick blackberries and peaches (you can check out my blog post about the experience here). I’ve been out several times since (even helping with the haunted trail in the fall), and it’s become one of my favorite spots. This week, I went out to pick strawberries, and loved it.
There are four types of strawberries planted at the farm at the moment. We picked Camarosa and Ruby June berries this week (I already taste tested a few, and they’re delicious). They take you on a wagon to the strawberry patches, provide a basket, and you pick whatever amount you want. When you’re finished, you ride the wagon back to the barn. It’s such a fun experience!
Strawberry picking is fun for all ages. My nieces went with me, and had fun (they even sampled the berries to see which kind they wanted to get the most), along with my mom. They have so many berries available, so definitely plan a trip to Eckert’s one weekend in May!
You can pay when you get to Eckert’s, but you can also reserve a date and time in advance here. Take yourself or your whole family – they have a play area for kids, a fun little store with some delicious goodies (I recommend the apple cider donuts). There are goats and sheep for kids to feed, and they are so cute! Check out my Instagram post from Easter to see some cute pictures of the babies.
I found this dress a little while ago, and it reminds me of a picnic blanket. It’s was perfect for a trip to the orchard. I love the checked pattern, and think it’s really pretty. It comes in this purple color that I’m wearing, and a pretty pinky-coral.
Speaking of picnics, this purse reminds me of a picnic basket and I absolutely love it. It’s really cute. I will say it doesn’t hold much, but it will hold a phone, pair of sunnies (necessary for a trip to the orchard), a portable phone charger, and a lipgloss. I love the versatility of it too. There’s a handle, which is cute, but it also comes with a gold chain that converts it to a crossbody.
I love these sandals that I got at Target last year. They’re really comfortable (I’ve talked about them in several posts, including this one where I talked about my visit to the orchard last year), and they can be dressed up or down. They’re unavailable right now, but Target’s sandals are currently on sale (you can find them here), so check them out!
Head out to Eckert’s through May to pick some yummy strawberries! Leave me a comment and let me know your favorite way to eat strawberries. I love them on their own, and in smoothies, but I’d love some new ideas!
