Cows are so cute, and Highland Cows are extra fluffy. If trained, they can become very comfortable with humans (not all Highland cows are trained, so don’t assume they’re all friendly, especially wild cows!). I checked out TC Highlands Farm in Pleasureville, KY (located in Shelby County), and these cuties gave us a great experience. Kristin, the owner, showed us around and introduced us to their herd. We had the chance to feed, brush, and interact with these cuties.

Most of the cows are friendly, and love to be brushed. We got to hang out in the field with them and get up close and personal, grooming them to be extra fluffy. The farm does allow private visits, so schedule your own if you want to go meet these beauties!

My friends Jess and Quentin came out with me, and I think we all had a blast. Jess had been dying to go, and the Highlands were so cute and friendly. We also went around sunset, and I think the photos turned out gorgeous. They do allow photography sessions, but even just heading out for a fun time with friends is perfect! It would be a fun little event for birthdays, bachelorettes, or just a date night (with a significant other or some of your besties)!

The farm itself is gorgeous. The cows have tons of space to roam around. I’ve been around cows my whole life, except mostly beef cows. This was a completely different experience for me. While beef cows are generally pretty wary of humans and don’t let you get too close, the Highlands intentionally wandered toward us for some pets. Even the mamas let us close to their babies (the babies were a little nervous; they’re still growing and getting used to humans), which definitely isn’t something I’m used to.

A fun fact we learned: the cows love fig newtons! It’s a treat for them, which I think is so cute. Also, caught a little cow sneeze!

Just a friendly reminder, while these Highlands are pretty accustomed to humans and are mostly friendly, they are animals. They do have horns, can kick and bite, and do have basic animal instincts. Please respect them and treat them kindly, and be aware of your surroundings.
Now, enjoy these pictures of adorable, fluffy cows!

Schedule your visit at TC farms here! At this time, they are not taking unscheduled visits. You can also check out their Instagram here to see updates of the cows!
