Weekend at the Local Orchard

Why is there such a magic about Fall? The whole season just has a comfy, relaxed feel to it. One of my favorite things to do every fall is to head to the local orchard for some fun. It’s great for all ages, and is a fairly cheap day. It’s also a great way to spend some time outside and enjoy the Fall weather.

Evan’s Orchard is the closest orchard to me, although there are a few more in Lexington that are pretty good also (I may have to visit a couple more by the end of the month). There’s a pumpkin patch, a store with bushels of apple choices and products (you can pick your own apples from the orchard, or enjoy some apple cider donuts inside), plenty of food options (my personal favorite menu item is the ribeye sandwich with a side of hot apple cider), a petting zoo, a play area for children, and more. I’ve only been as an adult, and there’s plenty to do even if you don’t have children with you.corn-stalks-and-window

This weekend, I checked visiting a local orchard and drinking apple cider off my Fall bucket list. My friends Rachel and Kelsey came down, and we had a fun girls’ day at Evan’s. We grabbed a bite to eat, then headed to the trees to pick some apples. There weren’t many options this late in the season, so we ventured over to the corn maze. I love corn mazes, and this one is fairly decent. We only took a lot of few wrong turns, but we had fun in the maze. Another family was playing Marco Polo, and we joined right in. We stopped to take some pictures, and just enjoyed wandering through the twists and turns. It took us a little longer than usual to find our way out with all our pit stops, but we made it!

Have you been to an orchard or pumpkin patch near you yet this Fall? Do you go with or without children? What’s your favorite activity when you go? I’d love to see your orchard and pumpkin patch photos (looking at Fall photos is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine)! Tag me on Instagram if you post any and I’ll check them out!
