Woodford Humane Society // Collab with Backroad Bluegrass

Y’all, October is finally here and I am so excited! I recently visited the Woodford Human Society in Versailles, and fell in love with some furry little friends. I’ve collaborated with my friend Marie at Backroad Bluegrass to share a little about the Humane Society!

I want a little brother or sister for Remus, and it took everything I had not to take one of these sweet babies home. It’s in the plans for a later point in my life – when I have a fenced in yard and plenty of room to add another little one to the family.

One of my favorite things about the WHS is that they keep the animals until they find a home. That makes my heart so happy. These sweet babies all deserve loving homes, and WHS lets them stay until they do.

The back room is my favorite. It’s home for so many cute little puppy faces. It took an insane amount of restraint not to take Benjamin home. Look at this little (big) guy! He’s a very sweet Golden Retriever / Great Pyrenees mix – two of my favorite breeds!

They also have a little kitty haven. Marie really enjoyed this space, but unfortunately I kept my distance (cats love me but my body does not love them). While we were there, a family adopted a sweet little black cat. Sadly, black cats are on the lower end of most families’ wants, but they’re my favorite! Especially in the Fall! I was so happy someone took that little furbaby home!

The WHS has some great things in the works, and I’m really excited for the Canine Olympics! This event will be Sunday, October 21 from 1-5 at Falling Springs Park in Versailles. Registration starts at noon! The event is free for onlookers, and is $10 for your first participation entry (each additional entry is $5). Each (human) participant will receive a t-shirt and goody bag. Onlookers can also purchase shirts and goody bags! The event will include kid-friendly activities and concessions, including some local food vendors.

If you’re looking for an easy way to support the WHS, visit them in Versailles. You can also contribute by linking your Kroger Plus card to the WHS. Use code YJ308 in the Kroger app to link your card! When you make purchases, Kroger donates a percentage to the Humane Society – free of cost to you!

If you attend the Canine Olympics, look for Remus and me in the costume contest! Come say hi! We LOVE meeting new people, and you may even get Remus to give you a puppy kiss! Be sure to follow Marie on Instagram!
