As I get older, I’ve started to value experiences as gifts over physical presents. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good gift, but I really love receiving an experience. It creates memories and is usually one of my favorite gifts. This past Christmas, my nieces gifted me an experience that I loved. For those who don’t know, Kentucky has a legitimate castle, and I think that’s so cool. Located in Versailles, the Kentucky Castle is a beautiful site that’s had me intrigued for years. They offer brunch and dinner, and my nieces treated me to a special brunch at The Castle.

We made reservations for a Sunday morning (highly recommend; seats aren’t guaranteed without one). We finally made it out there in September, and I was so excited. The Castle itself is gorgeous, and I love my aunt time. I recommend going early. We were seated a little later than our reservation, but we were able to wander around a little. We took some (gorgeous) pictures outside, checked out the rooftop, and explored the outside for a bit.

The Castle offers events occasionally. I think yoga on the roof would be really cool! The rooftop is huge, and you can see all around the lower level and the grounds. Definitely go up there if you visit!

The food was pretty good. I’d heard mixed reviews about it, but I really liked our meal. The girls both got a breakfast platter, and I got a lemon chicken dish. The girls are picky eaters, and they liked theirs, so I’d give it a thumbs up. I think the main attraction is the experience and the ambiance of The Castle, but the food was something I’d go back for!

This was such a fun day, and the pictures turned out beautiful. If you’re in the area and looking for a unique experience, check them out! They do also offer spa and resort services, which I think is really fun! It would be a cute little girls’ night or birthday or anniversary staycation spot.
