Project Pan 2018 Six Month Update

I can’t believe it’s already July. It seems like it just changed from 2017 to 2018. I said in January that I wasn’t setting any resolutions to follow, but I did set a few goals. One of the goals I set was to pan some of my makeup products. If you don’t know what project panning is, check out my original 2018 Project Pan post. You can see where I started at the beginning of the year. Today I’m going to go over my 6 month update to show my progress!

Overall, I’m pretty proud of myself. A few of my products are panned or done, and I’m very close on some of the other products. I still have quite a bit to go on a couple of the products, but that’s ok!

First, I finished the L’oreal Pro Glow Foundation. There is nothing else in the tube, which is really exciting. I’m also calling the Pro Glow powder done. This is nowhere near pan, BUT, I hit hard pan on the matte side of the powder. I’ve tried to scrape off the top layer, but it’s just not working. The shimmer side is still there, but I really don’t want to put just the shimmer powder on my face. So I’m officially calling the powder done.

Colourpop Mixed Tape is the first product I hit pan on. There’s definitely pan showing, and I’m really excited about it. I’ve loved using this shadow, and I get a lot of compliments with it. This one’s definitely a win. I wasn’t sure what people meant when they said Colourpop cream shadows dried up easily, but now I do. Once I hit pan I think the product started to dry up and crumble a little. There’s a lot more pan now, because pieces completely fell out.

I didn’t use up my Shape Tape concealer, but I’m calling it done also. I really really dislike using this product, and I’m not going to force myself to use it. There are other concealers I like much better.

Two products I hit pan on that weren’t in my project pan are the Benefit Kabrow deluxe sample and Becca Pearl highlighter. I love the Kabrow. It’s my favorite brow product, and I can definitely understand how I hit pan. I’m pretty impressed that I hit pan on the highlighter. I’m not a big fan of Becca highlighters (I know, I’m in the minority). BUT the powders are so soft, and I do love that Pearl is a stark white shade. Sometimes it looks really pretty, but I find it hard to blend into the skin, and it just doesn’t last. I’m definitely proud of myself for panning Pearl.

I’m very close to hitting pan on the Physician’s Formula bronzer (pretend that little bit of pan isn’t there). I feel like I’ve tried pretty hard to hit pan, but it seems like it’s never going to happen. I don’t think it will take much longer, but I’ve thought that since the beginning. We shall see!

The Tarte foundation is very close to being used up. There’s a tiny bit left, but the dropper won’t pick up the rest. I’m calling this one done for now. When I open my backup foundation, I’ll pour the remaining foundation into the backup bottle so I can use the rest up.

The Smashbox Primer Water is done. The nozzle stopped working properly, so I considered transferring it into a different bottle. Then it started to smell a little weird, so I think it may have expired. I’m going to go ahead and call this product finished.

I feel like I’m really close to hitting pan on Risque in the Too Faced Natural Matte palette. I love using the Colourpop shadow on the lid and putting Risque in the crease. They look really nice together, and it’s been easier for me to use the TF palette since I discovered how nice these shadows pair.

The three hardest products I’ve struggled to hit pan on are the Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder, the Nars blush, and the Too Faced Blushing Bronzer. I feel like no matter how much I’ve used these three items, I’m not even close to hitting pan. I use so little of the sculpting powder at a time that it’s definitely a challenge. I love changing blushes so I haven’t focused on the Nars blush as much as I should have. The TF bronzer seems like it’s never ending.

I think so far I’ve made pretty good progress. I’m going to try to really buckle down and focus on these items. I’m really excited that I hit pan on two products that weren’t even in my PP! I still have plenty of progress to make, so I can’t wait to give you guys a final update when 2018 is over!

I’ve also had a Nars blush FOREVER that I don’t think I’ll ever use up even though I wear it frequently. Maybe next time I’ll get a travel size!

I love this!! I’ve been trying to hit pan on a lot of my makeup products as well. It’s so satisfying when you finally do! Thank you for sharing!

I’m so interested to hear which concealers you like better than Shape Tape! I’ve been using it for a while but don’t love it as much as everyone else seems to! I’ve been hearing a lot about Nars concealer lately… not sure what I’ll try next!

I’m not a huge fan of the Nars concealer either. I LOVE the Studio Pro Total Coverage Concealer!

Congrats on all of the progress — I think this is a great goal!

This is a fun project! I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t love the Tarte concealer… everyone swears by it, but it doesn’t work for me.

YES! Nobody has anything bad to say about it… except me, and now you haha

Such a great way to save money and reduce wasted product!

That Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder is so hard to pan! I’ve had mine for years (the original packaging that had a bit more product) and it just keeps on going….

Looks like you are doing good so far! I’ve been using my Physician’s Formula highlighter for about 3-4 weeks and I’ve already hit pan. I use it just about everyday though haha!

What an awesome idea. I definitely have some product from subscriptions that I need to work through and this might be a new challenge!

This is such a good idea! I love that you’re using all your products and not wasting it. A good challenge for anyone with too much makeup!
